Nature Walks in Aptos

While each nature walk holds new opportunity for what we can discover and explore, we integrate the following components to support scientific inquiry, create connections with nature, and utilize meaningful math and literacy experiences

Digital Microscope

A microscope or a hand lens is a tool that invites children to look closely, observe, and notice.

It creates a new perspective that opens up thoughts, theories and questions.

Part of our nature walk experiences include collecting naturally fallen objects to further examine under the microscope.

Science Journal

Writing and drawing in our science journal represents why humans write: to remember, reflect and share information.

Children are natural born scientists, and when we provide them with meaningful academic experiences to express their thoughts and wonderings, they understand why we are practicing the foundations of reading and writing in school.

They write down the date in their journal, and create observational drawings that includes details and labels.

Play

There are many reasons that support the importance of play, including that it encourages imagination, collaboration, and problem solving.

Children need to be given the space to make movements big and small, explore blending imagination with reality, and the opportunity to make choices in their play.

Are you interested in your child having more opportunities to connect with nature?

We offer small group guided nature walks in the Forest of Nisene Marks in Aptos, California.

Our walks focus on connecting with nature and experiencing the beauty and intricacy of our natural world.

Curiosity and discovery are at the core of our experience. We use the scientific-inquiry process as we notice carefully, wonder aloud, and develop theories.

All children are scientists and should be given the opportunity to be curious about our world.

"Daniela allows children to take the lead on nature walks and together they find magic along the way. It's amazing to hear what they observed and researched en route.

Her ability to connect with kids and nature comes natural and it is a unique and special way for students to become one with Mother Nature outside of a classroom.

"I always have a great time exploring and seeing different parts of nature. Each time we find something new and then we research what it is. I have fun and I learn."

— Molly, Nature Walk Participant

Our daughter attends her nature walks and we LOVE it! As a former educator I can attest that she is leading high quality, fun, and thoughtful multidisciplinary learning experiences all while in the beauty of nature  She is a gem and her program is exceptional. Highly recommend!

We can't recommend the experience highly enough! As an educator and a parent I can attest that Daniela hits every mark across all domains (including Social-Emotional).

She finds the perfect way to water the seeds of curiosity, exploration, and engagement through the eyes of the individual child. These walks are a blessing for our family; she's helped us to find balance between nature/play-based learning and traditional academics for our children who are in the public school setting during the day.
